Week 5 : Recount [ continued 3 ] and Descriptive

When I was walking to the class I saw that in front of me was the teacher so I ran faster to come to the class in time. This class we started the lesson continue about Secrets by Tim Winton. We discussed about the story and the teacher let us talked about the symbolic with friend in group by four people. I discussed with my friends and I let one of my friends present on front of the class about the symbolic that we've discussed.

After finished the lesson. I was really interested in the new lesson, actually this was a first time that I really pay attention to the lesson. This new lesson was about the descriptive. We discussed about the appearance of the animals.

Truly, I really fun with this lesson and I hope next week we will continue this lesson and I will enjoy learning with it. I will pay more and more attention. At last, for me this class was easy and fun for me, but there was a little problem when I didn't know the word to describe those animals, I had to use the internet and the dictionary online.

On this day, actually I couldn't go to the class because no one was at home so I had to stay at home and I was feeling well on this day.
But I knew that they had to learn about the story " Secrets" by Tim Winton and summerized the details. Then they had to present about the story and talk about the symbolic of this story.
After they finished class, one of my friends told me that they had a homework and told me what to do. So I read the story and tried to analyze and find the symbolic by myself. The story was very long and it made me stay up late. But finally I finished reading.

Week 3 : Recount [ continue ]

It was a sleepy day. But this time I didn't come to class late anymore. I came to class around 8.25 am.
This time I was very willing to study this lesson. And the teacher always came to class on time.

At first, the teacher checked list of our name. And then she let us talked about the weekends. So on my weekend, nothing was special I stayed at home, watching movies, listening to music and doing homework.

After finished talking, we continue with the new lesson, so the teacher ordered us to read the new topic silently and answer the question and also sat in a group for four people and discussed about the topic that we've read "There were a woman and a boy". Today I had to present in front of the class about the summary and what I've read and known in this story.

Then we started read the story together again and she gave us the feedback about this story and then we started the new lesson.

The teacher show us the example and let us do some activities. After that, we had to read the first two paragraphs and discussed with friends. And then we finished the class and I knew that on Sunday this week I have to study because it's the make up class.

For me, this lesson still difficult to understand but it had a little bit easy and fun some of the part of the lesson. I will study hard more and more. That's all for today.

Week 2 : Recount

It was a second time that we started the lesson. And I remembered that today I came to class late and when I arrived to the class the air condition din't work. It was very hot and I couldn't pay attention to the teacher and again I didn't understand the lesson and I couldn't catch the word.

The teacher taught us the recount continue. The first,the teacher gave the new sheets for us.She taught the purpose of recount,text organization and language features.After that the teacher ordered us to read the text and answer question in topic My grandpa’s funeral in Toraja. When I read the story.I was very wonder about the story because It made me get the new knowledge.

And then we started to learn about the culture in Toraja. We had to read the text and answered the question. And we also had to draw a diagram about the text.

Phase 1
1. Slaughtering the pigs and buffaloes.
2. Moved the corpse to face the north.
3. The corpse was placed in a sandal wood coffin.
4. The coffin was bought out of the house and placed on an open. platform beneath the granary
5. Prepare the wooden puppet and a tower called lakian.

Phase2
1. Borne coffin from the house and placed in the lakian.
2. Buffalo matches.
3. Feasting, chanting and dancing in the night.

In my opinion,the lesson today was quite difficult. I still re read the text again when I came home because I tried to understand what I've learned today and I really sorry to the teacher that I didn't pay attention again. I still hope the next lesson I can pay attention more than this time.

Week 1 : Introduction about a discourse approach in reading

It's the day began of this semester. We've met each other after on a vacation. First, the teacher introduced the course that we had to learn this semester. I came to the class around 8.20 am. and the teacher came to the class on time.

Then, the teacher let us talked about the vacation that we've done last year. I talked to my friends that I went to the camp in Kanchanaburi with my family and it was very fun.

After that the teacher was starting the lesson about discourse marker around 9.00 am.. Actually, I was very sleepy and I didn't pay attention to the teacher and I was very sorry.

I tried to listen to the teacher but I still did't understand what she taught about. So I often asked my friends and tried to understand the lesson. The teacher told about how to use discourse marker, but not much just the sample. Then the teacher let us did the exercise about matching the following words with the correct genres of text; cause/effect, definition, problem solving, procedure, classification and comparison and contrast. And the second the teacher let us completed the sentence in each paragraph. In fact I was very lazy and sleepy today. It was hard to me to pay attention.

This lesson was hard for me and I knew that I should pay more attention and re read the lesson. I used dictionary when I found the words that I didn't know the meaning.

We finished the class at 11.30 am.

It was very tired day for me and I hope that next week will be okay for me.

When I came home I tried to study the lesson that I've learned again to try to understand by myself.
